After your reply and further thought, I believe that you are very likely correct. Adding significant tariffs would accomplish several things. It would provide revenue, it would discourage exports, and the revenue would be coming from the importers/purchasers, rather than our citizens. We could certainly use some tax relief! Thanks for responding.

I notice your comment about private companies and LNG. I respectfully disagree, in that the gas itself is a natural resource of the country where it is extracted, and would submit that the country should have some input in the place where that resource ends up. I'm all for free enterprise, and small, unobtrusive government, but sometimes I think we need to try to keep our natural resources here for the sake of our economy. Wow!
